Kara has thirty years of experience in public accounting and the banking industry providing personal financial planning and tax services to corporate executives, privately held business owners and high net worth individuals. Prior to joining Trust Company of the South, she worked at KPMG for fourteen years, started a personal financial company for a publicly-traded bank, and was the Northeast Region Personal Financial Planning Leader for a top ten accounting firm. As a past member of the AICPA Personal Financial Planning Executive Committee and as a current member of the AICPA Personal Financial Specialist Credential Committee, Kara is up-to-date on the latest industry trends.
Kara works closely with other team members to provide seamless tax and compliance services to our clients. She has extensive experience in legacy and business succession planning, qualified and non-qualified stock options, restricted stock units and qualified and non-qualified retirement plans, as well as education and retirement planning, and income tax compliance for U.S. citizens working abroad and non-U.S. citizens living and working in the United States.
Kara graduated cum laude from Coker College where she played volleyball and basketball, and later earned her Masters of Taxation from the University of South Carolina. Kara enjoys Broadway shows, British/Australian television, horses, her dog and collecting pottery.
