Mr. Palmer has over eighteen years
experience in the trust and financial services
field. Mr. Palmer’s primary responsibilities include
oversight of Trust Company’s strategic planning and
investment committees, while also serving as
managing principal of the Raleigh office. Prior to
joining Trust Company, Mr. Palmer worked with
Central Carolina Bank and First Union National Bank.
Mr. Palmer is a graduate of the University of North
Carolina at Chapel Hill and is a Certified Financial
Planner (CFP
®).
Mr. Palmer serves on
TIAA-CREF’s Board of Financial Advisors. He is also
an active member in several professional
organizations including The Association of
Independent Trust Companies (AITCO), the Wake County
Estate Planning Council, Triangle Chapter of
Financial Planning Association, and NAPFA. His civic
involvement includes membership on the
Administrative Board of his church, the UNC
Educational Foundation’s Planned Giving Council and
the Lacy Foundation Board. His past service includes
serving on the boards of North Carolina Amateur
Sports and the Raleigh Capitals Athletic
Association.
Mr. Palmer is a frequent writer and
speaker, having articles published on financial
planning and investing. He has been quoted on a
variety of financial planning topics by national
publications including Investment News, Bloomberg
Wealth Manager and SmartMoney.
Mike and his wife, Meredith, have
four children. He coaches youth baseball and
basketball for the Salvation Army and City of
Raleigh youth athletic programs.
